E/MW Research

E/MW Research is an inaugural laboratory for ensemble improvisation research, theory, and practice between East Coast and Midwest collaborators. This incubator serves to connect seemingly disparate improvisatory modalities and explore the intersections of impulse and action in the wake of that which is ever-arriving.

Recognizing choice-making as a compositional tool, this laboratory also encourages artists to utilize the tools of their artistic process so as to create pieces of “art” though the temporal medium of performance—inviting critique; investing in intangibility; and compromising with and submitting to emerging events.
